Manga Muscle Girls ( 漫画の筋肉娘 / Manga no Kinniku Musume )



I didn't plan for this post to be part of the Manga Muscle Girls series.  My original thought was to do an entry on the artist Kazumi Akow 「亜神和美」( AKOU Kazumi ), but I decided to add it into the MMG series when I realized that Hysteric Alive was one of the few manga that Akow had published through the Japanese label Cult Comics.  The other manga that I know about is one called R.I.P Blue Rose, which has been harder to locate.  Hysteric Alive was also picked up by a Chinese publisher, Joy Comics, and it's the version that I was able to find.  Here's a few samples from that book:



Akow-san has a penchant for drawing powerful and curvy heroines in his manga and doujinshi.  The style remind me a lot of Masamune Shirow.  I highly recommend you track down a copy of his doujinshi called Cursed Knot which was released under the doujin circle SLAVE in conjunction with NHK.  That doujinshi features a very muscular Mai Shiranui from SNK's King of Fighers series and Morrigan from CAPCOM's Darkstalkers series.
