Just a quick post about an online trading card game that has been sucking away all my time.  It's called Ring☆Dream (リング☆ドリーム).  There's a lot of cards that feature muscular girls like the ones above.  You have to have a Japanese Yahoo account to play it.  There's a wiki that has some useful information for those that know how to use Google Translate.  I might put together a walkthrough if there's enough demand.
I mentioned last week, I planned to upload artwork each day of the week.  Well, mission accomplished.  Here's a recap of the posts from Monday through Sunday last week:

I'll have some shiny new commissions in the next few days, like the awesome Psylocke by DJOK3 that I posted today.  I've been working with a lot of artists that I haven't commissioned before.  I'm excited to see what they come up with, especially =elsevilla.  Check out the commission section on my profile page for the full list of artists.

I've been also discovering some new manga that I need to add to the list of Manga Muscle Girls I've been keeping.  There's been a lot of fanart popping up on Pixiv of characters I didn't know.  I've been hunting down the manga the last few weeks and managed to find a few.  Stay tuned for more stuff.
Falling behind on posting the stuff I commissioned.  I've been busy with trying to track the deviants with the most watchers at DeviantART.  That project is pretty much complete and I just need to finish handing out some point rewards.  It was a pretty successful crowd-sourcing project and I think I want to try to more of these in the future.  I have some other data that I'm interested in finding.  Anyone have their own ideas?

So I gotta catch up on posting artwork. I'm going to post a new commissioned piece of artwork every day this week, starting with Monday.  Keep checking back for some cool pieces.  One of the things I'll be posting about is a new side-story to Magic Muscle that ~jsiejkd is working on with *bokuman featuring Gray and Juvia.  It's gonna be a good week, so stay tuned.

More Information

DeviantART doesn't publish a top list. There used to be a Popular Deviants section on the Today page. It measured Popular Deviants by pageviews, and was removed likely due to gaming. Watcher-count can be gamed also, but it's a decent indicator of popularity.

It falls to the community to build it's own top list. I gathered the initial names through Google-Fu and wading through a lot of DevART pages. It's the perfect project for crowd-sourcing. There's lots of reasons why a top list is useful. I'm a bit of a stat geek so I just like knowing stuff like this. I hope to keep this list updated over time to maintain its usefulness. Any help is definitely appreciated. It would be cool if an admin with access to the backend data could confirm our list is correct.

Update

I expanded the list to the Top-50 deviants from only the ones above 100,000 watchers. Yesterday, I discovered a useful new way to find the deviants with the most watchers using an awesome Google search that takes advantage of a range function:

"60000..99999 watchers" site:[link]

Using this, I filled out the list.  It should be pretty accurate unless there are more deviants who suffer from the counting error that affected `loish.  I may have come across one of those in my Googling. *J-Scott-Campbell showed up as 65400 watchers in the Google index, but now shows 845 watchers today. His watcher history only goes back to March.  Has anyone else seen the bug like this?

Edit: *J-Scott-Campbell watcher count has been fixed, I added him to the list.

I was browsing around and found a site called Estar which I think is short for Every Star.  It seems to still be a beta version of the site.  I stumbled across three pictures which I thought were pretty good.  I think I've seen that last one on Pixiv before.

Johane

I came across the blog of an artist that goes by Johane (ヨハネ).  He has an entry over at the doujinshi database and has stuff for sale under the Circle Ao (青) over at Toranoana.  He has several drawings of girls sporting athletic physiques at his blog.  Here are some of my favorites:

DeviantHEART, Stats and Randomness

Journal Entry: Mon Apr 1, 2013, 7:31 AM
*oil is my DeviantHEART match.  DeviantART really put a lot of effort into this April Fool's prank.  Bravo, DeviantART.

Just crossed the 3500 mark in watchers, huzzah!  I like to keep an eye on my numbers.  The last time I wrote about reaching 3000 my top three deviations were Korra, Naruto, and Sakura.   Since that time, Sakura has been overtaken by She-Hulk also by ~Speeh.  So here's the top three in my gallery:

... and here are my stats as of this morning:

I've reworked the Information box on my profile page, the one that appears under the Journal entry.  It now includes some other information, including a list of artists I'm currently commissioning.  So if you've ever wondered, you'll find that info there.

Estivador Sketch Commissions

Journal Entry: Sat Mar 23, 2013, 11:40 AM
~estivador is running a special on sketch commissions.  It's just $12 for a sketch for a limited time for something like this:

His stuff is great.  I had a few sketches from him before that I really liked.

And he did a great deviation of Akiko Daimon for me ages ago.  I definitely am going to take advantage of this offer and think you should too.  Tell him Ed sent you if you decide to commission him.  It's a great chance to get great art for a very reasonable price.

Catching Up

Journal Entry: Mon Feb 25, 2013, 4:34 AM
I've been really busy lately.  I have been falling behind on my Pixiv updates and coloring work on Magic Muscle.  I also still have a boatload of manga that I want to share in the Manga Muscle Girls features that I write.  Sorry about all the delays, I should be able to catch up on things this week.

Also haven't had that much time to commission new art and I want to get back to doing that.  I've got some ideas that I think would go over well among those of us in the female muscle fan community.  I don't think I'll have any of them done by my birthday though so that bums me out a little.   I do have a few more older commissions that I haven't posted yet which I'll post soon I hope.

I've been working with ~lost-tyrant on a Rule 63 SF Ken commission to complement the Rule 63 Ryu deviation.  I really liked how that one turned out.  Also loved the Korra piece from ~hugohugo and the She-Hulk deviation from *kyptova.  Those are 2 artists that I definitely want to commission again soon.

Jormungand

Journal Entry: Thu Jan 24, 2013, 8:00 AM
Jormungand (ヨルムンガンド)
Manga Muscle Girls ( 漫画の筋肉娘)

Jormungand (ヨルムンガンド) is a manga series by Keitaro Takahashi (高橋慶太郎) .  It has spawned an anime series which has aired recently. The manga is available in English and is published by Viz Media.  They offer a digital version at the attractive price of $5.99 per volume versus the retail price of $11.99 for the print editions.  The story is about an arms dealer and her cadre of bodyguards.

Among muscle girl fans, the anime generated some interest due to the buff girl in the opening sequence.  That buff girl is Sofia Velmer who goes by the name Valmet (バルメ). There's a lot of great scenes of her in the manga, it's definitely worth checking out.

There's a ton of fanart of her on Pixiv as well.  Here's a few of my favorites:

Hat tip to redsilver for pointing out the series to me.  Here's an awesome bonus image by the artist Cle Masahiro from Tokyo PonPon Dou's Kuuchuu Roukaku 10 ([東京ポンポン堂] 空中楼閣10).  Don't forget to check out Manga Muscle Girls for more muscle girl appearances in manga.

CYNTHIA THE MISSION

Journal Entry: Thu Jan 17, 2013, 4:59 AM
CYNTHIA THE MISSION (シンシア ザ ミッション)
Manga Muscle Girls ( 漫画の筋肉娘)

CYNTHIA THE MISSION (シンシア ザ ミッション) is a manga by Rui Takato (高遠るい) full of action, gore, and pretty assassins.  It was published in 9 collected volumes between 2005-2007.  In Volume 5, the sister of one of the main characters is introduced.  Her name is Ran Gotou (檎桐鸞) and she is a buff babe.  She appears mostly in volumes 5 and 7.  I've read that she makes an appearance in another of the author's manga called SCAPE-GOD.  I haven't been able to track that one down though.  Check out some of the nice pages in CYNTHIA THE MISSION:

I included that last image just because I like it.  The manga doesn't appear to be available on Amazon JP any more, I was able to find it on eBookJapan though.  The series has been scanlated, so you should be able to find at many online manga sites.  Don't forget to check out Manga Muscle Girls for more muscle girl appearances in manga.

Mino Gallery

Journal Entry: Thu Jan 10, 2013, 4:35 AM
I found a site called Mino Gallery that has some great artwork.  The gallery is divided into 6 sections, including a Amazoness section.  There's a lot of stuff that's definitely worth checking out.  Here are my favorites:

Rice Shoulder

Journal Entry: Thu Jan 3, 2013, 2:03 PM
Rice Shoulder (ライスショルダー)
Manga Muscle Girls ( 漫画の筋肉娘)

Rice Shoulder (ライスショルダー) is a manga by Tsuyoshi Nakaima (なかいま強) being serialized in Weekly Morning, a Kodansha publication.  It started running in 2007 and has been compiled into 13 tankobon so far, with the 14th volume due out in January 2013.  Nakaima-sensei's previous manga are up at ebookjapan and I hope Rice Shoulder shows up there someday.  You can get all the volumes over at Amazon JP.

The series follows Okome Akino (秋野おこめ), an 18-year old girl who measures a healthy 6' 3" (193 cm) and 227 pounds (103 kg).  Okome's name means into "rice". Her mother passed away and her father abandons Okome and her three younger siblings.  Okome finds her way into the boxing ring to support the family.  The artist does a good job of showing how physically impressive she is in the manga:

There's a depressing lack of fanart of this series, though I did find some on Pixiv:

Numbers, Trends and a New Year

Journal Entry: Mon Dec 31, 2012, 11:05 AM
I posted a poll back in 2011 and a similar poll for this year. It's a rough way for me to check on my approval rating at DeviantART. The poll answers are slightly different though I think the results are still useful.  Back in 2011...

... 83% of Deviants polled said I was awesome, and in 2012...

... it's up to 86%! I'm improving! Gonna try for 90% next year. That's my New Year's resolution.

Last year I put together a list of my top deviations for 2011 and I want to continue that trend this year. For the first 10 weeks in 2013, I'll count down the deviations with the most favorites in 2012.

I had a deviation cross the 1000-fave mark this year for the first time.  I hope that trend continues.

The number of Pixiv images in the archives is going up too quickly for me to keep up.  I'm going to end the Pixiv Archive updates at some point in 2013 so that I can focus on getting back to finding cool muscle girl artwork on the web.  I'll create journal entries for the really great stuff, but the daily stuff is getting too overwhelming.

I've got a lot of manga that I want to add to the list of Manga Muscle Girls.  I definitely want to update that more often.

Happy New Year everyone!

Magic Muscle Info

Journal Entry: Thu Dec 13, 2012, 12:08 PM
I've been coloring Magic Muscle, the manga project by ~jsiejkd and drawn by *Pokkuti.  I won't be updating it for awhile at the request of *Pokkuti as he takes a well-deserved break.  You'll be happy to know that the next two 8-page chapters have been funded thanks to the generosity of the contributors.  ~jsiejkd says the 8-page ninth chapter will be fully funded after a $40 donation.  10 chapters have been planned, along with a probable epilogue.  ~jsiejkd gave me a glimpse into the future chapters, and it is 'enormously' intriguing.

There have been some requests for me to post the individual color pages somewhere. I don't want to post individual pages into my gallery for a few reasons.  So instead I put them in my Sta.sh and added a link in the Magic Muscle deviation to them.

At this point, between ~bolorny and me, we've got 20 colored pages completed.  If you're enjoying the series, please let us know!  You can send notes or messages to *Pokkuti, ~jsiejkd, or just post here.  Moral support is important and doesn't cost anything so I encourage everyone to do it often.

Who Wants to Be a Premium Member?

Journal Entry: Tue Dec 11, 2012, 6:24 AM
Now through December 16th, DeviantART is running their annual Give One Get One promotion on Premium Memberships.  I always like to take advantage of these offers.  Last year, I commissioned people in exchange for Premium Memberships.  For the two years before that, I gave out memberships to deviants, and I want to get back to that.  Here's the list of previous Premium Membership recipients:

2011
~AdvancedDefense
~Dark-Blue-Abaddon
~RedSilverArtist
~bustergundam4

2010
*DavidCMatthews
~Fettcom
~ayanamifan

2009
~Speeh
*bokuman
*Pokkuti
~Fersax

I want to mix things up a bit this year and reward some deviants in the Female Muscle Art Community.  I'm taking suggestions.  Who do you think needs some love for their contributions this year?  I have enough DeviantART points for 4 three-month Premium Memberships.  You may nominate as many deviants as you want.  No self-nominations, please.  Post in this journal with their names and reasons for nomination by Saturday.

Edit: Previous winners are not eligible.

Edit: Thanks to everyone for the suggestions.  Here are the winners:
